Strata conference

Several members of the Wakanda team will be at O’Reilly’s Strata Conference through March 1, which features sessions on the theme of “Making data work.” Feel free to come say hello at Booth 716.

See you in London
Source 2012
Have you heard of Sourc{ 2012?  The Source DevCon is dedicated to mobile and desktop Web application development, and it will be taking place in London, England, from May 2-5.

The Wakanda team’s own Alexandre Morgaut will be there, presenting “Wakanda: NoSQL & SSJS for model-driven Web applications” alongside JavaScript luminaries like Douglas Crockford, Joe McCann, Remy Sharp and many others.

Whether you’re already in the vicinity of London or can get there in early May, we highly recommend you check out this event. See you there!
I have an intimate relationship with SQL, so what I have seen so far of the Wakanda datastore has really impressed me.

If you weren’t among the hundreds of people who attended our first Wakanda webinar live, you can be among the many hundreds more who have watched it on YouTube.

Simply point your browser at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8rEtxKCZgE to view David Robbin’s 50-minute long presentation of some of Wakanda’s top features. Then try it out for yourself by downloading the latest beta release of Wakanda.

The next Webinar will focus on Wakanda’s NoSQL object datastore, alongside more general topics. Want to find out when it’ll happen? Be sure to follow @wakandasoft on Twitter for to-the-minute updates.

Community videos: Keep 'em coming
During Wakanda's development, we've made more than a few videos to keep you up to date with new features, relive events we've attended, or just entertain and get the word out. Since Wakanda went into beta, you, the community, have been playing around with the platform and making your own screencasts. Last month we rolled out our Community Video Playlist and have been adding your contributions to it ever since, as well as extracurricular contributions from our own team. A hot one this month has been David Robbin’s "Security Best Practices with Wakanda" – watch it now.
Upcoming events
March will see Wakanda shown off at 4D DevCon Australasia 2012 in Sydney, and Parisians shouldn't miss Full-JS in June,  which is destined to be the server-side JavaScript conference in France. More details, including those about Wakanda’s participation, will be forthcoming.
Git up on it like this
On the Wakanda Github repository, we’ve created a new sub-repository for example applications made by ourselves or the community. It’s called wakanda-sampleapps, and to start things off, we have put up a To Do List application.

Actually, you'll find two versions here: One built with v1 of Wakanda, and one built with v2, from the development channel. The latter uses the new tab widget to make for a single-page application.

The to-do list application lets users that are logged in enter new tasks with a priority level, as well as display a list of their completed tasks. It highlights two main points: The first is security, and how to automatically filter data depending on the current connected user. Second is the use of the matrix widget instead of a grid in the user interface.

You can find them here: https://github.com/Wakanda/wakanda-sampleapps/tree/master/To-Do-List
